Director of Financial Aid and Associate Director of Admission

Who You Are:

The Director of Financial Aid must provide sensitive counseling and clear, prompt, and accurate communication of complex information to families, fellow administrators, and supervisors. In addition to providing analytical oversight of the Financial Aid budget and assessment of all applications for scholarship support, the Director of Financial Aid also serves as an Associate Director of Admission. In this capacity, the Associate interviews and tours families, communicates with and presents to families and faculty, and provides regular advice and marketing counsel for co-workers and the Director of Enrollment Management. This is a twelve month, benefit eligible position.

What You Will Do:

  • Establish and maintain deadlines for submission of financial aid applications, taxes, and other supporting materials.
  • Using Clarity, Microsoft Excel, and Veracross, track the distribution of financial aid and provide accurate reports.
  • Establish and maintain a creative and strategic vision for allocating financial aid dollars constructively and presenting data in innovative and strategically useful formats.
  • Provide regular ideas and feedback on a broad range of communication with families.
  • Provide feedback and insight on various Admission Funnel projects in close cooperation with the Director of Enrollment Management.
  • Brainstorm cooperatively and creatively in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Reading and evaluating candidate files.
  • Serving on the Upper School Admission Committee, Financial Aid Committee, and Financial Aid Task Force
  • Represent EA at school fairs, conferences, school visits, and other events, especially those closely associated with financial aid.
  • Help organize, set up, and staff most admission events inside and outside normal working hours.
  • Track stages of admissions folder completion, including written correspondence to families and oversight of admissions decision letters and telephone calls.
  • Works with a counselor/learning specialist to responsibly gather extra information needed for applicants if necessary.

About You:

The ideal candidate for the Director of Financial Aid; Associate Director of Admission at The Episcopal Academy will possess the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least three years of prior admissions experience.
  • Natural marketing instincts and aptitude, a passion for the science and execution of marketing work, and an instinctual understanding of 21st-century independent school admission marketing challenges.
  • Recognize and act on the need for warmth, enthusiasm, honesty, and patience with financial aid families.
  • Demonstrate outstanding and creative oral and written communication skills.
  • Possess strong people and organizational skills, familiarity with private school strengths, intuitive understanding of prospective parent's needs and expectations, exceptional common sense and judgment, and openness to new ideas and innovation.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Comfortable working in and with diverse student and adult populations.
  • Flexibility to extend hours during busy periods.
