Part-time Dining Room Staff

Westtown School seeks an energetic and customer-oriented person to assist with general food preparation, dining room service, general cleaning, and other support of the Dining Services Department. This part-time, year-round position is 20 hours per week with some evening and weekend work required. 

Westtown School is an independent, Quaker co-educational, pre-K to 12, college preparatory day and boarding school located in suburban West Chester, PA, approximately 30 miles from Philadelphia. Essential Responsibilities

• Provides friendly, efficient, and helpful service;
• Assists with meal setup, service, and collaborating with the student work program;
• Assists with some daily food set-up according to the Assistant Kitchen Manager’s specifications;  
• Performs food replenishment and displays food items;
• Follows wrap, label, and date procedures for all food items;
• Maintains a clean and orderly work area and completes daily and weekly cleaning as assigned by the Assistant Kitchen Manager;
• Ensures that proper food handling practices are followed;
• Notifies managers of all maintenance and safety issues;
• Maintains knowledge of school property and staff as necessary to perform assigned duties;
• Reports all accidents to the Kitchen Manager immediately;
• Works efficiently and collaboratively with other team members;
• Participates in departmental meetings and all necessary training;
• Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required
• Some prior food service experience is preferred
• Experience in a customer service position is highly desirable
• A team-oriented spirit and the desire to work in a collaborative environment
• Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move up to 25 lbs regularly using proper moving and lifting procedures
• Able to stand, walk, sit, and climb 
• Able to push and pull heavy loads
• Able to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions.
