Social Studies Teacher - Full Time

Full-Time Social Studies Teacher:  The ideal candidate would have PA certification in Secondary Social Studies, or commensurate experience and training, and would be capable of teaching a diverse range of subjects.  In addition to proven success with strategies for Social Studies instruction across a wide range of teaching methodologies, successful candidates will possess the following proficiencies:

• A commitment to the Catholic identity of Villa Maria Academy and the mission of the IHM charism.
• Demonstrated dedication and collaboration to help foster a love of oral and written communication.
• Evidence of a content background and/or experience providing instruction in all Social Studies with an emphasis in United States and world history.
• Proven fluency and willingness to use technology to enhance instructional delivery, including teaching in a virtual environment and one-to-one instruction.
• Ability to conduct ongoing assessment of student growth and progress and modify instructional methods and curriculum to fit individual needs of students of varying levels and abilities.
• Continuing acquisition of professional knowledge and pedagogy including current developments in the discipline by attending seminars, workshops, or other professional development opportunities.
• Learning and utilizing the school’s learning management and student information systems for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance as required.
• Providing an advisory role to help guide students with course management, study skills, and social development.
• Have an interest in supervision of co-curricular responsibilities, as available.
