Friends Select School is seeking an Upper School history teacher to cover a quarter-long leave. The expected dates of this position are January 6, 2025 through March 21, 2025, with the potential to shift slightly based on need.  The position will include teaching three sections of 11th grade US history.  The ideal candidate will take a friendly and collaborative approach to teaching in order to create an inclusive learning environment for all students

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach 3 sections of US history, and potentially lead an advisory and a clubs block
  • prepare for classes, including grading homework and assessments and posting work on the school's LMS; 
  • meet with students when they need extra help and communicate home for persistent struggles;
  • communicate with the guidance team with students who need additional support
  • Maintaining and updating Blackbaud (the school’s LMS) for each class

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Undergraduate degree in history, or related subject 
  • Experience teaching history, preferably for grades 9-12
  • Experience and proficiency using a Learning Management System (Blackbaud), preferred
  • Support Quaker school values, a commitment to social justice and anti-racism
