Position: General Maintenance

The General Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing general routine, preventive and corrective maintenance of school buildings and campus grounds to maintain a safe, well-maintained environment for students, residents, staff and visitors.
Position Responsibilities
- Operates low-pressure steam boilers, adjusts valves, replace and repair steam check valve, cleans steam traps, and maintains overall efficiency.
- Completes daily maintenance work orders as assigned, including but not limited to: event set up and break down, snow removal,trash removal, minor carpentry, painting, plumbing and systems repairs, etc.
- Participates in facility preventative maintenance programs
- Accountable for and abides by the standards set forth in The Baldwin School Employee Handbook and Community Agreement.
- Maintains confidentiality and rights of student, family, employee, and facility information in compliance with policies and applicable regulations.
- Maintains a safe work environment and exhibits safe workplace best practices.
- Interacts positively and cooperatively with students, families, visitors and other staff.
- Performs all duties in compliance with all applicable Federal and State rules and regulations and facility policies and procedures.
- Accepts assigned duties in a cooperative manner and willingly performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School diploma required.
- 2-4 years of relevant maintenance, laborer, or related experience preferred.
- The ability to follow verbal and written instruction; to perform basic math calculations and to work efficiently without direct supervision.
- A valid PA driver's license and the ability to operate all School vehicles and equipment
- Interested candidates must possess a general mechanical aptitude and a positive customer service approach.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
An individual in this position will be required to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs. Maintenance Team Members work inside and outside and are exposed to varying environmental conditions. The ability to stand for extended periods of time and climb a ladder are necessary.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8-hour shift
