The Senior Advancement Officer is a key member of the Advancement team, responsible for managing and growing relationships with major donors to secure financial support for Mount Saint Joseph Academy. Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer,  will focus on identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of leadership, major and planned giving donors, while contributing to the Mount’s overall fundraising strategy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Major Gift Fundraising

  • Manage a portfolio of 150-200 major gift prospects, focusing on individuals with the capacity to make gifts of $5,000 or more.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship to support annual, campaign, and planned giving priorities.
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with donors, engaging them through meaningful communications, personal visits, and tailored proposals.
  • Make comprehensive asks that integrate support for the Mount Fund (annual fund), campaign priorities, and PA State Tax Credit programs (EITC/OSTC).
  • Partner with the CAO to strategically engage key donors and campaign prospects during the private phase of the school’s capital campaign.
  • Support grant writing efforts through family foundation research that can increase major gift support to the Mount
  • Travel locally and nationally up to 60% of the time. Nights and weekends as needed.

Program Advancement and Management

  • PA State Tax Credit Programs: Manage and grow participation in EITC and OSTC programs by educating donors and prospects, ensuring compliance, and stewarding gifts. Develop relationships with BLOCS and other SPEs to maximize program impact.
  • Stewardship and Reporting: Oversee the preparation and delivery of detailed stewardship reports for endowed funds. Collaborate with the Advancement team to design a donor stewardship program that recognizes and engages supporters across all giving levels.
  • Planned Giving: Establish and lead a robust planned giving program to grow the school’s legacy giving pipeline. Provide education and materials to prospective donors, and create stewardship strategies to ensure sustained engagement.

Collaboration and Leadership

  • Work closely with the CAO and Advancement team to ensure alignment of donor engagement strategies with institutional priorities.
  • Contribute to strategic planning for the overall Advancement program, identifying areas for growth and innovation.
  • Partner with program staff to align donor engagement with programmatic goals and impact stories.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource for junior Advancement staff, sharing expertise in donor cultivation and solicitation.
  • Collaborate with team members and volunteers to broaden the prospect pipeline and support volunteer committee efforts.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned in line with imminent priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong relationship-building, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and implementing fundraising programs, including planned giving and stewardship initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Pennsylvania’s EITC/OSTC programs.
  • Proficiency in donor management systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge) and CRM tools.
  • Passion for the mission and values of Mount Saint Joseph Academy.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or CFRE certification preferred.
  • 5–7 years of professional experience in fundraising (preferably in an education setting), with a strong emphasis on major gift solicitation and donor relationship management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Prolonged periods standing, walking, sitting, reaching, and computer/technology-use throughout the working period.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds as needed.
