The Director of Annual Giving is responsible for leading and growing the school's annual giving program, the Mount Fund. Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, this role is integral to the Advancement team and focuses on fostering a culture of philanthropy within the Mount community, increasing participation and revenue, and aligning annual giving efforts with the Academy’s mission and strategic priorities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Planning and Execution

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive annual fund strategy to meet participation and revenue goals.
  • Lead the rebranding of the Mount Fund to align with the Academy’s mission and priorities.
  • Develop strategies to educate donors on the impact of their contributions and the importance of unrestricted giving.
  • Segment and analyze donor data to create targeted solicitation and stewardship plans.
  • Collaborate with Advancement colleagues to integrate annual fund efforts with broader campaign and major gift initiatives.

Leadership Gift Solicitation and Portfolio Management

  • Manage a portfolio of prospects, cultivating relationships and soliciting leadership gifts up to $5,000.
  • Implement management system to identify and engage potential donors to expand the Mount Fund’s leadership giving base.
  • Collaborate with Advancement colleagues to ensure a coordinated approach to donor engagement and solicitation.

Giving Efforts and Collaboration

  • Oversee the planning and execution of all annual appeals, including Fall and Spring Appeals, Giving Days, and End-of-Year Appeals.
  • Partner with the Communications team to craft engaging appeal campaigns across multiple channels (direct mail, email, social media, and phone outreach).
  • Develop and execute the Senior Parent Gift initiative and new parent giving effort, supported by the Director of Engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Advancement Operations and Alumnae Engagement on reunion giving initiatives.
  • Develop faculty and staff giving strategies and stewardship efforts.
  • Work closely with the Senior Advancement Officer and Chief Advancement Officer to coordinate and support leadership and major gift solicitations for the Mount Fund.
  • Support grant writing efforts through public, government and corporate foundation research that can increase support to the Mount Fund.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned in line with imminent priorities

Stewardship and Communication 

  • Create compelling stewardship materials and ensure timely acknowledgment of gifts.
  • Partner with the Communications team to develop messaging that inspires giving and highlights the impact of the Mount Fund.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Engagement to organize donor appreciation events and recognition initiatives.

Data Management

  • Track and analyze donor data to inform solicitation strategies and measure progress toward goals.

  • Prepare reports on giving trends, donor retention, and appeal performance for leadership review.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated success in leadership gift solicitation and volunteer management.
  • Experience managing multi-channel fundraising campaigns and donor stewardship.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in donor management systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge) and CRM tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in annual giving, fundraising, or related field, ideally within an educational institution.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Prolonged periods standing, walking, sitting, reaching, and computer/technology-use throughout the working period.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds as needed.
