Part-time Kitchen Staff

Westtown School seeks an energetic and customer-oriented person to assist with general food preparation and dining room service, general cleaning, and other support of the Dining Services Department. This temporary part-time position is 25-30 hours per week through June 30 as coverage for a medical leave. There will be some evening and weekend work required. 

Essential Responsibilities

• Provides friendly, efficient, and helpful service;
• Assists with meal preparation, service, and collaborating with the student work program;
• Assists with some daily food set-up according to the Assistant Kitchen Manager’s specifications;  
• Performs food replenishment and displays food items;
• Follows wrap, label, and date procedures for all food items;
• Maintains a clean and orderly work area and completes daily and weekly cleaning as assigned by the Assistant Kitchen Manager;
• Ensures that proper food handling practices are followed;
• Notifies managers of all maintenance and safety issues;
• Maintains knowledge of school property and staff as necessary to perform assigned duties;
• Reports all accidents to the Kitchen Manager immediately;
• Works efficiently and collaboratively with other team members;
• Participates in departmental meetings and all necessary training.

Qualifications

• High School diploma is required
• Some prior food service experience is preferred
• Experience in a customer service position is highly desirable
• A team-oriented spirit and the desire to work in a team environment
• Able to lift, carry or otherwise move up to 25 lbs regularly using proper moving and lifting procedures
• Able to stand, walk, sit, and climb 
• Able to push and pull heavy loads
• Able to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
