AIM Academy is excited to announce the opening of an Upper School Science teaching position, preferably in the fields of Biology, Anatomy, and Medical Sciences. Upper School science courses are lab-based, and there is a strong emphasis on experiential learning, study skills, and field work.
AIM’s Upper School is an innovative and collaborative environment where teachers have smaller than usual caseloads so they can focus on the individual needs of students. Faculty in the Upper School enjoy a good deal of autonomy in the material they teach as well as very well-developed support structures to employ key research based practices for the instruction. Candidates should be comfortable designing their own curriculum and also open to collaboration and support from the greater instructional team at AIM.
The department is supported by a team of instructional leaders, speech language pathologists, and very knowledgeable administrators. An ideal candidate will have experience teaching science to students with language based learning differences like dyslexia. The ideal candidate will also understand how to marry explicit instruction with a college preparatory scope and sequence. Those with specific degrees or training in our niche field are highly desirable, but that is not required. AIM’s Institute for Learning and Research will provide a myriad of opportunities for professional development prior to the opening of the school year.
Because AIM is dedicated to creating a culture of equity and inclusion, candidates should value engaging in open dialogue, questioning, confronting assumptions, and attuning to all voices. Please review AIM’s Equity and Diversity Statement online.
At AIM Academy, our hiring process reflects our culture, ethics, and core values: Care for Others, Creative Problem Solving, Commitment to Excellence, and a Can-Do Attitude.
