Position Overview:
Linden Hall, the nation's oldest independent boarding and day school for girls, seeks a dynamic, student-centered full-time science instructor to join our collaborative faculty team. We are looking for an engaging educator who is passionate about teaching chemistry to students in grades 6–12, including college preparatory, honors, and Advanced Placement® (AP) levels. The ideal candidate thrives in a close-knit community, values diversity, and is committed to helping students of all backgrounds succeed—particularly English language learners.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field with a concentration in chemistry (required)
  • Master’s degree (preferred)
  • If not, AP Chemistry certified through College Board, have a willingness to complete the training
  • Previous teaching experience in independent schools (preferred)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A collaborative and student-centered mindset

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Teach five classes, including sections of College Prep Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, and AP Chemistry
  • Support and participate in school life by sponsoring or co-sponsoring extracurricular activities
  • Foster positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
  • Advise a small group of students as part of the school’s advising program
  • Attend and support student events in the arts, athletics, and community life

Additional Duties:

  • Participate in boarding responsibilities, including occasional weekend supervision
  • Perform duties as assigned by the Head of School or other administrators

Pre-Employment Requirements:
All offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of required background checks and clearances. These may include, but are not limited to: criminal background check, child abuse clearance, FBI fingerprinting, and any other relevant certifications or screenings as required by the position. All clearances must be obtained and approved prior to the start date.

  • PA State Police (Act 34)
  • FBI Fingerprint (Act 114)

Pre-Employment Training Requirements:


Candidates selected for this position must complete all mandatory pre-employment training prior to their start date. This may include, but is not limited to: onboarding orientation, safety and compliance training, and any role-specific certifications or modules required by the department or organization.

Trainings Required:

  • Mandated Reporter (Act 126- Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Act)
  • Suicide Prevention (Act 71)
