Plans and delivers age-appropriate music lessons aligned with curriculum standards.
Teaches music theory, vocal techniques and rhythm.
Lead group singing, movement activities and rhythm exercises.
Organize and direct elementary school music performances such as concerts and musical programs.
Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and creativity
Prepares, administers, and grades tests and assignments in order to evaluate students’ progress.
Communicates with parents and guardians to discuss their children’s progress
Collaborates with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of the elementary music school program.
Attends professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.
Qualifications
Pennsylvania Teaching Certification
Bachelor’s Degree in Music (Music Education preferred)
Strong Musical Ability (voice, piano)
Passion for working with young children and fostering their artistic development
Three years’ experience at an appropriate grade or age level
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with students, parents and colleagues
Demonstrated organizational skills
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Works in a fast paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges and deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
Works primarily in a traditional climate-controlled classroom environment
