Assistant Business Manager/Staff Accountant (Full-Time)

Education

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (Associate's degree with significant relevant experience will be considered)
  • Minimum of two years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit or independent school environment
  • Working knowledge of non-profit accounting standards and fund accounting principles
  • Experience with payroll processing and benefit administration
  • Familiarity with employment law and HR compliance
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • High degree of professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with student billing systems and business office software is a plus

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Record and post monthly journal entries to the general ledger
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly basis
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
  • Assist with student billing and collections
  • Payroll processing and maintain related records
  • Coordinate benefits enrollment and administration
  • Assist with recruitment and onboarding of new employees
  • Maintain and improve business office procedures and documentation
  • Support the annual audit process and provide documentation as needed
