Food Service Director 

Gemma Services, located on two picturesque campuses in Plymouth Meeting and two satellite campuses in Philadelphia, promotes safety and nonviolence while cultivating a caring environment in a diverse and inclusive environment. Gemma Services strives to create a community that promotes recovery from trauma for the children and families that we serve. 

We are looking for a food service director who will lead and support all aspects of the Food Service Department for the organization working between our two Plymouth Meeting locations.  

Responsibilities include establishes, implements, and evaluates processes and procedures that emphasize high quality food, appetizing presentation, and exceptional customer service. Implements a cost-effective procurement system that adheres to the strict code of conduct using federal, state, and local money. Coordinates maintenance and repair of food service facilities and food service equipment with the Vice President of Operations. Maybe be called on to cook and serve meals as needed.  Understands and can execute the food production for large events up to 300+ staff and children both indoors and outdoors. 

Education/Training: Bachelor’s degree with a specific major in food and nutrition or food service management or culinary arts or business management. Current SERV Safe certification.  

Skill(s): Knowledge of School Nutrition Program (SNP) rules and regulations, knowledgeable in Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), business background preferable. Must be professional, customer service oriented and enjoy working with children and youth. Must possess leadership skills, computer, communication, and business math skills. Ability to operate all food service equipment, including Point of Service. 

 Experience: Five years leadership experience in school food service preferred.
