Position: Assistant Teacher - Early Childhood Center (Kindergarten)

The Baldwin School seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Teacher - Early Childhood Center (Kindergarten) to work collaboratively with Kindergarten teaching faculty to help girls develop academic and social-emotional skills. The successful candidate will possess effective interpersonal and written and oral communication skills. She or he will be energetic, creative, collaborative, and flexible. The successful candidate will love working with young children and have an understanding of and appreciation for girls' education. This position is an opportunity for new teachers to work directly in a classroom with the support and supervision of our expert faculty.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with the lead teacher in planning, designing, and implementing curriculum;
  • Providing support for and instructing children in whole class, small group, and individual instruction in classrooms;
  • Assisting students in navigating daily routines, including meal times;
  • Helping maintain a clean and organized classroom space;
  • Performing arrival and dismissal duties;
  • Attending staff meetings and serving on committees, as required; and
  • Other duties, as assigned by the Division Head or the Head of School.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood or elementary education;
  • Experience working with young children;
  • Invites feedback and follows recommendations from lead teachers;
  • Working knowledge of Macintosh operating systems; and
  • Comfortable using online texts, iPads, student information systems, and other computer systems.
