Senior Accountant

Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant assists the Director of Finance with the financial functions of the school, ensuring accurate and timely financial information for constituents.

Qualifications:

 Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Minimum 5 years experience with nonprofit and/or school financial management
  • Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP)
  • Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge
  • Current (dated within a year) Act 34, 114, and 151 clearances
  • Highly proficiency in spreadsheets and word processing

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the accuracy of student tuition and fee accounts, overseeing the billing and receipt process to ensure timely and accurate invoicing for students
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and perform bank reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly workpapers to reconcile various general ledger accounts
  • Assist the Director of Finance in the monthly close and preparation of financial reports
  • Assist the Director of Finance in the year-end close, audit and 990 preparation
  • Assist the Director of Finance with the annual budget and perform other financial analysis as needed

  • Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions

Equipment/Material Handled                                   

The individual in this position shall be assigned a variety of resources and materials which are to be appropriately stored and accounted for. All media resources and borrowed material are to be judiciously used, and are to be maintained in a reasonably unsoiled and non- damaged fashion. Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all multimedia equipment including current technology.
