Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Advancement at Linden Hall School for Girls is a key member of the Advancement team, supporting the school’s mission through relationship-building, strategic engagement efforts, and dynamic event planning. This role focuses on alumnae relations, parent engagement, special events, and annual giving, helping to grow philanthropic support and strengthen Linden Hall’s community across generations.
Working in collaboration with the Director of Advancement, the Assistant Director will plan and implement annual giving campaigns, oversee signature events such as the Annual Fall Fundraiser and Reunion Weekend, and serve as a primary liaison to both alumnae and current parents.
Key Responsibilities
Parent Engagement
- Serve as the main point of contact for parent donors and volunteers within the Advancement Office.
- Plan and lead parent-focused giving initiatives, including the Parent Giving Campaign and peer-to-peer solicitations.
- Identify, recruit, and support Parent Giving Ambassadors, providing materials, training, and ongoing stewardship.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase parent involvement in advancement efforts and school life.
- Coordinate communications with current families to keep them informed and engaged.
Alumnae Relations
- Serve as the primary liaison for Linden Hall alumnae, building lifelong relationships through personal outreach, digital communications, and targeted engagement strategies.
- Coordinate alumnae events both on-campus and regionally.
- Support the Alumnae Association in planning initiatives and increasing alumnae involvement in fundraising and school programs.
- Manage alumnae communications including newsletters, class notes, milestone recognitions, and social media outreach.
- Maintain and update alumnae records in the school’s database (Raiser’s Edge NXT).
Annual Giving
- Assist in developing and executing annual giving strategies that broaden Linden Hall’s donor base and increase participation across constituencies.
- Personally manage, cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of 25-50 mid-level gift prospects
- Support the creation of appeals via direct mail, email, and digital platforms.
- Partner with volunteers and class agents to promote giving among alumnae, parents, faculty/staff, Trustees, and friends.
- Track giving trends and donor data to inform campaign decisions and improve outcomes.
- Assist in preparing compelling grant proposals, stewardship reports and presentation materials to support donor engagement and funding opportunities.
- Co-manage the donor database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records to ensure accurate correspondence, gift acknowledgments and donor communications.
Event Planning and Execution
- Plan and execute advancement-related events including:
- Annual Fall Fundraiser
- Alumnae Reunion Weekend
- Donor Stewardship / Cultivation Events
- Oversee volunteer committees, vendor management, timelines, and logistics.
- Solicit sponsorships, auction items, and manage donor recognition for events.
- Partner with Marketing & Communications to develop promotional content and ensure brand alignment.
- Coordinate post-event follow-up, including communications, reporting, and stewardship.
Constituent Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with alumnae, parents, donors, and volunteers to foster a culture of philanthropy and connection.
- Represent Linden Hall at school and community functions as needed.
- Actively participate in the full life of the school—attending events, supporting traditions, and engaging with students and colleagues—to develop a deep understanding of the Linden Hall experience and strengthen community connections.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience in advancement, development, alumni relations, or parent engagement within a school or nonprofit setting.
- Exceptional communication, relationship management, and organizational skills.
- Event planning and project management experience required.
- Knowledge of software including Raiser’s Edge NXT, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office is preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate in a team environment.
- Passion for education and community building.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for events.
