Reports to Director of Facilities
Position Purpose Performs maintenance, grounds-keeping, and custodial tasks that ensure the care and upkeep of La Salle’s 84+ acre campus.
12p-8p Shift.
Essential Functions
- Works alongside experienced members of the Facilities Department to become skilled in general interior maintenance, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other installed equipment.
- Contributes to the team effort on project-work and event setup and breakdown.
- Performs grounds maintenance including leaf and snow removal.
- Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on building, grounds, and equipment.
- Paves, maintains, and repairs asphalt and concrete surfaces on roadways, sidewalks and parking spaces.
- Prepares and paints interior and exterior surfaces.
- Performs cleanup and worksite restoration including waste, refuse, and debris disposal.
- Assists with internal package distribution and moving/lifting of heavy objects (as needed).
- Responds to and takes appropriate actions in the event of emergency or critical incidents to resolve, confine or prevent potentially injurious or hazardous conditions.
- Performs other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-year related experience with the capacity and willingness for professional development.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools to perform general maintenance duties.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all constituents in a school environment.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships within the Facilities Department, with vendors, and the school community at large.

- Demonstrated adaptability; remains resilient and constructive when faced with change and challenge.
- Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
- Ability to work independently and contribute to team projects.
- Ability to work on-call, after hours, over weekends and on public holidays with short or no notice on an overtime basis.
- Knowledge of O.S.H.A. requirements and the ability to routinely follow those guidelines and requirements.
- Valid PA State Driver’s License. Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
- Ability to apply basic first aid.
- Ability to perform basic computer skills for the use of email, internet web browser, and software applications.
