The Director of Financial Aid at Germantown Friends School (GFS) manages all aspects of the school’s financial aid program, including Tuition Financial Aid and Non-Tuition Financial Aid (NTFA). GFS has a robust financial aid budget that supports approximately 33% of enrolled students annually. This individual reports to the Chief Financial Officer, supports the Director of Enrollment Management, and collaborates closely with other members of the Business Office, the Admissions Team, and the Advancement Office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee total financial aid budget (approximately $10M for FY 2024-25), inclusive of various funds within that total budget, to support the achievement of enrollment goals.
  • Manage Clarity (the financial aid application portal) and communicate with families in an informed, timely, and thoughtful manner regarding the application process, financial aid program philosophy, and equitable awarding process.
  • Clerk Financial Aid Committee meetings including preparation and organization of application data.
  • Oversee the Non-Tuition Financial Aid (NTFA) program and Rubenstone application process and maintain database of awards.
  • Ensure accurate and timely updating of financial aid data into Veracross.
  • Communicate with outside scholarship organizations (such as Children’s Scholarship Fund of Philadelphia, Maguire Foundation, Friends Education Fund, and Quaker Monthly Meetings).
  • Participate in enrollment events, such as Open Houses, to present the financial aid program.
  • Report necessary financial aid data to the NAIS-DASL, ADVIS, NBOA, School Districts, and other organizations as required annually.
  • Create the Financial Aid Annual Report each fall and report to the School Committee as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all financial aid recipients and design programs and methods to maintain that confidentiality.

  • Must have the ability to maneuver in an office space, reaching filing cabinets, faxing, scanning, copying, typing, mailing, and making phone calls daily.
  • Standing, walking, and sitting doing sedentary work required on a daily basis.
  • Must have the ability to walk upstairs as necessary in the buildings on campus.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.

Work Environment
Working schedule is Monday-Friday 8 am – 4 pm and must have flexibility to work during various school events with appropriate notice.
