Interim Biology Teacher

Friends Select School seeks a passionate and engaging interim, full-time Upper School Biology Teacher for the remainder of the 2025-26 school year to teach three sections of 11th grade biology and another science elective.  This individual will integrate and model Quaker values and principles in the daily life, teaching, and learning of the upper school and should enjoy working collaboratively with the school community of students, faculty, and parents. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create engaging and relevant science lessons and laboratory-based activities
  • Take a friendly and collaborative approach to teaching in order to create an inclusive learning environment for all students
  • Collaborate with a team of upper school teachers and science department members
  • Integrate technology into daily classroom activities and lessons
  • Consult with the Director of City Curriculum to cultivate relationships with city institutions to enhance coursework
  • Actively participate in additional upper school activities, such as student clubs and committees

Qualifications:

  • Experience with teaching, preferably with upper school students
  • At minimum, a Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Commitment to Quaker values, anti-racism and social justice
  • Experience and proficiency with online learning tools
