Middle School Math Teacher (Gr 6-9)
Upland Country Day School seeks an innovative and experienced Math teacher for students in Upland’s
“Upper School” in Grades 6-9.
The Upper School Math teacher will successfully carry out the following responsibilities and duties:
Essential Functions
● Teach four sections as determined by the Head of Upper School.
● Work collaboratively with other Upper School teachers to develop and implement horizontally
aligned curriculum across sections.
● Interact with parents and maintain an open dialogue with families to support student success
● Serve as an advisor to 6-8 students in the Upper School.
● Engage fully with the Upland community including, but not limited to, participation at all schoolwide
assemblies, faculty meetings, various faculty supervisory duties. Demonstrated competency with
current teaching technology and an interest in advancing its use in the classroom.
Classroom Responsibilities
● Create an innovative program that introduces students to age appropriate learning.
● Prepare and execute thoughtful units of study designed to reach the different learning styles of the
students in the classroom.
● Maintain a safe and engaging learning environment.
● Support clear communication with colleagues, administrators, and parents regarding any student or
classroom issues.
Additional Responsibilities
● Covering classes for colleagues when necessary.
● Actively participate in all in-service and orientation days.
● Experience or interest in coaching (field hockey, soccer, ice hockey, lacrosse) is highly desirable.
Minimum requirements
● Bachelor’s degree.
● Experience working with middle school students.
● Current clearances, including: Act 34 - PA State Police Criminal Record Check; Act 114 - FBI
Report and Fingerprinting; Act 151 - PA Child Abuse History Clearance
