Position Overview
Villa Maria Academy High School is seeking a dedicated and organized Part-Time Store Manager to oversee daily operations of the on-campus school store. This role is responsible for managing all sales activities, inventory control, product selection, and branding consistency across store merchandise. The Store Manager works closely with the MarkCom team, collaborates with vendors, and supports student involvement in special event sales. The ideal candidate will be customer-focused, detail-oriented, cooperative and comfortable working in a school environment with occasional responsibilities beyond standard store hours.
Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions
- Merchandise Sales & Store Operations
- Oversee all sales of VMAHS-branded apparel and merchandise.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records in ShopKeep.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and implement periodic inventory reduction sales.
- Manage cashiering duties, including daily/weekly/monthly reporting.
- Organizing, including lifting merchandise and store resources as needed.
- Maintain clear, organized store displays with accurate pricing that align with student dress policies.
- Print price tags and properly label all merchandise.
- Coordinate student helpers for special events as needed.
- Ensure all equipment (registers, scanners, ShopKeep system) is functional; contact support for troubleshooting.
- Provide timely and exceptional customer service to students, families, and visitors.
- Support school events by preparing and transporting merchandise for sales tables or mobile setups.
- Inventory & Vendor Coordination
- Work closely with the MarkCom team to request inventory orders and recommend new product ideas.
- Collaborate with vendors to secure merchandise and manage reorders.
- Maintain the store’s inventory accounting system.
- Help develop creative merchandise concepts with input from student teams.
- Special Events
- Coordinate and run sales for special events that may fall outside the school day (e.g., orientation, open house, athletics events).
- Supervise volunteers and student staff assistance during events.
- Social Media & Marketing
- Manage store-related social media activity in partnership with student teams.
- Maintain the school store’s Instagram presence and contribute to Facebook posts.
- Work closely with MarkCom to promote new items, sales, and store hours.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong retail background, including merchandise management and vendor relationships.
- Negotiation skills for working with outside vendors.
- Proficiency in Excel for quarterly reporting, pricing, and inventory analysis.
- Ability to learn new software and digital tools quickly.
- Experience posting on Instagram and Facebook for business or promotional purposes.
- Customer-service oriented with a pleasant and welcoming demeanor.
- Creative eye for merchandise displays and trends.
- Cooperative, able to follow directions while also offering initiative and fresh ideas.
- Valid driver’s license.
Additional Qualifications
- Experience using ShopKeep (or similar point-of-sale/inventory systems) preferred; training available.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications.
