Director of Finance

Center School is seeking a Director of Finance to manage all aspects of the School’s finances with minor human resources related responsibilities.  

Founded in 1989, Center School is an extraordinary independent school whose mission is to provide children in grades 1 through 8 who have learning disabilities with a personalized education to realize their potential and reshape the way they view themselves and their future.  The school’s philosophy is based in the belief that every student is capable of academic, social, and emotional growth.  For over 30 years, our curriculum has helped children with learning disabilities experience overwhelming success.    

The Director of Finance (DF) at Center School is responsible for strategically planning for the longevity and financial sustainability of the School.  This person contributes to the mission of the School by leading and supporting fiscal systems, procedures, and processes.  The DF possesses a strong understanding of policies and best practices in order to communicate with the appropriate groups and/or constituents.  This position is responsible for the accurate management of financial information in accordance with GAAP.  The DF tracks, reports, and analyzes data for the purpose of supporting the Head of School and the Board of Trustees in their financial planning.

The ideal candidate for the Director of Finance position must possess strong math and analytical skills, computer literacy, a broad understanding of accounting principles, and a keen understanding of attention to detail as well as strong organizational skills. 

This position is a full-time role, Monday through Friday, with a possible hybrid model option.  There may be occasions when working nights and weekends is required due to meetings, special events, and other circumstances that require attention.  This position reports directly to the Head of School.
