POSITION OVERVIEW

The Facilities Associate is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and overall care of school buildings, grounds, and related equipment to ensure a safe, clean, and fully operational campus. This role performs general maintenance and repair work; maintains lawns, gardens, athletic fields, and exterior spaces; assists with snow and ice removal; supports event setup and breakdown; and conducts routine preventive maintenance on equipment and vehicles. Working in collaboration with the Director of Facilities and team members, the Facilities Associate follows safety regulations and building codes, documents work performed, responds promptly to maintenance requests, and helps ensure that campus facilities are well-prepared to support the school’s daily operations and programs.

POSITION SPECIFICS

  • Handles necessary repairs and maintenance, including general repairs and painting. 
  • Installs equipment and appliances, and any other general assembly needs.
  • Follows local and state building codes in coordination with Director of Facilities, team, and Director of Safety and Risk Management.
  • Complies with all company safety regulations.
  • Keeps a maintenance log and works in the facilities software system.
  • Reports issues to the Director of Facilities and/or CFO as needed.
  • Responds to repair and maintenance requests in a timely fashion.
  • Loads and unloads equipment and tools into work vehicles if needed.
  • Follows written and verbal instructions from the maintenance manager or clients.
  • Collaborates with the maintenance team and contractors as needed.
  • Reads and follows manuals, written instructions, and works with the team on building and construction tasks.
  • Uses equipment, including power tools, hand tools, electric tools, and plumbing tools.
  • Provides landscaping and cleanup assistance.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair facility grounds and related equipment and vehicles.
  • Performs snow/ice removal and cleanup assistance.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair building systems and components, as required, in accordance with recognized industry and school standards to assure the timely and appropriate readiness of designated facilities in support of the schedule and programs of the school.
  • Maintains lawns and gardens (including seasonal cutting, trimming, edging, raking, grading, seeding, irrigation, and mulching: plant removal, replacement, and watering).
  • Maintain athletic field and all tennis courts for optimum play performance and athlete safety: field and goal lining, tennis court and associated posts/nets upkeep, repair and refurbishment of spectator seating.
  • Removes leaves and brush from all campus areas.
  • Aid in removal of snow and ice and salting as seasonally required for all areas of ingress/egress including: drives, parking lots, walkways, and exterior access stairs.
  • Repair and replace fencing and signs, including directional signage removal and installation.
  • Provide parking lot safety and security, including stop block placement and overall cleanliness of the parking lot surface.
  • Check perimeter and interior of campuses for paper, debris, etc.: collecting and discarding.
  • Keep all exterior entrances, courtyards, walkways, stairwells, etc. clean and swept.
  • Maintain all playing fields, lawns, bedding shrubs, trees - including campus housing - in the best possible condition and prepare for games and scrimmages as required and document work done.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks on all ground equipment and ground vehicles as required.
  • Assist in setups/tear-downs for regular and special events. 
  • Be available during special events or after normal hours to assist as needed.
  • Assist in assessing farm areas of campus and help restore and maintain areas, equipment, and help leadership establish alternate programs (if and when needed).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Handle the physical demands of the job, including standing, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing, and lifting at least 50 pounds.
  • Communicate effectively and willingness to learn as well as demonstrate.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Facilities, teammates, leadership team, colleagues, and contractors.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • BA/BS Preferred 
  • At least two years of building maintenance, construction, plumbing, or electrician experience
