Assistant Pre-Kindergarten Teacher

Upland Country Day School is a coeducational, non-sectarian day school serving approximately 220 students in Preschool through grade 9. Located in Kennett Square, PA, southwest of Philadelphia, Upland draws students from towns throughout Chester County and northern Delaware.

We currently have a full-time opening for an Assistant Pre-Kindergarten teacher in the School’s Primary grades beginning August 2026. This caring individual will be one of two classroom teachers who will provide instruction from 7:45AM-3:00PM Monday through Friday, as well as attend faculty meetings, trainings, and community functions throughout the school year.

Furthermore, the ability to contribute in other areas of the School including extra curricular activities (i.e. coaching, after school care, and after school clubs) is especially desired. 

Classroom Responsibilities:  

• Ensure a safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate learning environment where every child feels emotionally secure and has a strong sense of belonging
• Plan and implement daily lessons/activities that follow the classroom’s daily schedule and Upland’s curriculum guidelines that inspire creativity and encourage exploration
• Provide diligent supervision of all children that fosters social/emotional development and guide each individual towards positive classroom behaviors

Qualifications:

• Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Education, or equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years of classroom education and/or instructional experience in Primary Education (ages 4–7 years) 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Collaborative worker and great member of a team
• Able to react quickly and calmly in a variety of situations, as well as multi-task
• Current Clearances:  
  • Act 34 - PA State Police Criminal Record Check
  • Act 114 - FBI Report and Fingerprinting
  • Act 151 - PA Child Abuse History Clearance

Preferred Skills:

• Current Pediatric First Aid and Infant/Child CPR certification 
• Experience or interest in coaching or extra curricular activities

Compensation and Benefits:

This is a full-time, ten-month position offering a salary and benefits package commensurate with experience.
