LOWER SCHOOL TEACHING POSITION

This is a full time position within the Lower School reporting to the Head of Lower School.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Create an intellectually challenging program informed by developmentally appropriate and research-based practices that is inquiry-based, rigorous, and integrates culturally responsive pedagogy
  • Design curriculum using a backwards curriculum planning model aligning with the PreK-12 spiral
  • Individualize and differentiate instruction, nurture wellbeing, and be able to motivate and challenge students utilizing a variety of instructional and assessment methods
  • Assume responsibility for all work included in a full time teaching assignment including progress reports, conferences and home/school communication, scheduling, duties, etc.
  • Integrate technology to enrich student learning
  • Cultivate a sense of community, social responsibility, and an appreciation and respect for individual differences
  • Work closely and cooperatively with colleagues and administrative teams
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, kindness, enthusiasm, a sense of humor, willingness to learn and grow professionally, a cooperative spirit and a commitment to teamwork

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must...

  • Demonstrate maturity, collegiality, flexibility, and commitment to equity and professional growth
  • Work collaboratively, build relationships, and make connections with children, families, and colleagues
  • Have a minimum of three years teaching elementary experience
  • Hold a bachelor's degree
  • Have knowledge and/or training in cultural competency
  • Possess excellent speaking writing, and organizational skills
