AIM Academy is excited to post the opening of an Upper School Robotics and Engineering teacher. 

 AIM’s Innovation Technology department consists of faculty members who focus on engineering, design, problem solving, coding, fabrication, and robotics in a project based curriculum spanning 1st through 12th grades. This position will be focused on Upper School students and will primarily concentrate on design, prototyping, and creating. The student production of hands-on assignments will teach basic design and engineering principles. 

An ideal candidate will have experience teaching upper school-level students as well as a deep understanding of culturally responsive best practices. Experience teaching students with language-based learning differences like dyslexia and dysgraphia, as well as students with processing or attention issues, is preferred. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Design or Education 
  • PA or Private Academic Certification 
  • Strong technology skills
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Experience working with high school students
  • Ability to positively and productively relate to adolescents and teens
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Adaptive learner and self-starter
  • A builder at heart who is comfortable working with Makerspace equipment, hand and power tools, using a variety of materials

 

Responsibilities

  • Will serve as Head Coach of our FIRST Robotics Competition Team: Wolf Pack 5407
  • Teach innovative, elective courses to Upper School students
  • Collaborate with other Innovation Technology Team members to align scope and sequence

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Ability to teach coding as well as an understanding/ interest in emerging education around artificial intelligence  
  • Experience creating and implementing strategies for Engineering/STEAM experiences into multi-disciplinary curricula for Upper School students
  • Experience with laser cutters, 3D printers, various saws, CNC machining, OnShape, CorelDraw, Fusion 360, TinkerCAD, Lego Spike Prime systems 
  • Work in partnership with teachers and staff, collaborating with technology, engagement, lesson ideas, use of technology, STEAM, and online tools
  • Design and deliver student-centered, project and problem-based learning experiences around Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math
  • Willingness and/or experience in partnerships and community engagement
