Villa Maria Academy High School seeks a dynamic, student-centered full-time Math Teacher to join our faculty. Rooted in the IHM charism, Villa is a Catholic, college-preparatory school committed to fostering academic excellence, faith, and leadership in young women.
The ideal candidate would have PA certification or commensurate experience and training in Secondary Mathematics. A successful candidate should demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:
- A commitment to the Catholic identity of Villa Maria Academy and the mission of the IHM charism.
- Show evidence of a content background providing preparation to teach Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Statistics, and Calculus.
- Fluency with and/or willingness to learn and work with technology as an instructional tool in the Math classroom, especially iPad applications, Minitab, TI software, and other web-based tools and resources.
- Ability to conduct ongoing assessment of student growth and progress and modify instructional methods and curriculum to fit individual needs of students of varying levels and abilities.
- Proactive approach to professional growth by actively seeking out opportunities to enrich depth of understanding, to become familiar with innovative approaches, to better understand student behavior and classroom management, to connect with the mathematics teaching community, to model and engage in lifelong learning.
- Willingness to contribute to the mathematics curriculum development.
- Collaborative spirit when working with colleagues both within the Mathematics Department and across the Villa faculty.
- Enthusiasm for the content area that is contagious in the classroom and supportive of student growth and confidence and is always in keeping with school mission, goals and values.
- Learning and utilizing the school’s learning management and student information systems for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance as required.
- Navigation skills for digital workflow.
- Providing an advisory role to help guide students with course management, study skills, and social development.
- Have an interest in supervision of co-curricular responsibilities, as available.
Education and Experience:
A bachelor’s degree in mathematics or a related field is required.
Master’s level degree and PA teaching certification are preferred.
