Description of Opportunity

Over the past several years, La Salle College High School has invited professionals in specific academic areas to bring their passion and expertise to our campus to enhance our curricular offerings, elevate the relevance and hands-on learning experiences for our students, and serve as collaborative partners for our faculty. A Professional in Residence at La Salle is primarily responsible for delivering engaging and challenging instruction in a dynamic learning environment. The teaching schedule is typically moldable to fit around a part-time teacher’s needs.

We are currently looking for a Professional in Residence in Engineering, specifically for the entry-level course, Engineering Design. The courses we offer in this area include:

  • Engineering Design (entry level, hands-on)
  • Advanced Engineering Design
  • Principles of Engineering
  • Aerospace Engineering
  • Honors Engineering Capstone Seminar

Versatility in teaching other courses in our engineering curriculum, physics, or other science courses is desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver lessons that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation.
  • A curriculum is established, but we encourage our professionals in residence to offer input and recommendations on how to enhance it.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and school-wide professional development activities when applicable and available.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field
  • Professional experience in area of expertise
  • Scheduling flexibility to teach at the same time each day or every other day. The number of classes can vary depending on the position.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to inspire and engage students
  • Adaptability and a growth mindset regarding teacher training, especially within the context of the Lasallian educational mission.

Compensation for these Part-Time Adjunct Positions is determined in a consistent manner, based on the number of sections taught.
