POSITION: TEACHER OF RELIGION

  

STATUS: Full-time position for the 2026-27 academic year

 

REPORTS TO: Dean of Academics

 

PRIMARY ROLES:

La Salle College High School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher of Religion who is passionate about student engagement, active learning, applying the study of religion to the lives of adolescent young men, and promoting critical thinking and open dialogue. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in the Catholic Faith and teaching Religion, excellent communication and organizational skills and a creative approach to teaching. The successful candidate will be able to teach the content effectively and in the spirit of our Lasallian Catholic context, connect with adolescent young men in positive and meaningful ways. Lasallian education is about “teaching minds and touching hearts.” Our teachers inspire and shape the lives of our students through their interactions both in and outside of the classroom.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach six sections of Religion - three one-hour classes a day.
  • Play a vital role in shaping the faith development of all students.
  • Assess student progress through various assessment methods and provide timely, meaningful, actionable, and individualized student feedback.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment for all students.
  • Fulfill additional roles of full-time faculty members, e.g., managing a proctor assignment and being a homeroom moderator. Option to get involved moderating an extracurricular activity, and/or contributing to a campus ministry activity.
  • Productively collaborate with colleagues in departmental and school-wide initiatives.
  • Willingly collaborate with departmental colleagues to follow the existing curriculum and, when possible, contribute ideas to enhance it.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Clear commitment to the mission of the school, which emphasizes teaching the whole student and meeting the diverse needs of students.
  • Experience with teaching techniques that produce active student engagement, include real-world applications of content and skills covered, and provide meaningful student feedback.
  • Passion for the academic subject matter being taught and working with adolescent young men to develop to their fullest potential.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of current technology with a proclivity to try new technologies.
  • Commitment to the professionalism of a teacher, e.g., attendance, punctuality, respectful interactions with all community members, timely responses to all requests for communication, and ongoing professional development.
  • Practicing Catholic with a firm understanding of the teachings of the Church.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in Theology or its equivalent preferred.
  • Teaching experience in secondary education highly preferred.
