Part-time After-School (MooseKids) Program Staff
Westtown School seeks energetic, caring, and creative individuals to join our MooseKids after-school program. Serving students in Pre-K through Grade 5, MooseKids provides a safe, engaging, and student-centered environment where children can learn, play, explore, and build meaningful relationships after school.
The program operates weekdays from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the academic year, with additional opportunities to work during faculty in-service days and school breaks.
The ideal candidate understands child development and enjoys actively engaging with children through play, creativity, and exploration. We are looking for individuals who are eager to jump into games, arts and crafts, outdoor adventures, music, sports, and imaginative activities while helping create a welcoming, inclusive community for every child. A sense of humor, flexibility, sound judgment, and strong classroom management skills are essential.
Westtown School is an independent, Quaker pre-K to 12 college-preparatory day and boarding school located in suburban West Chester, PA, approximately 30 miles from Philadelphia. Essential Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety, well-being, and supervision of students at all times.
- Plan, organize, and facilitate engaging, developmentally appropriate activities for children ages 4–10.
- Lead games, sports, arts and crafts, outdoor play, and enrichment activities that encourage creativity, curiosity, and collaboration.
- Provide homework support and academic enrichment, as appropriate.
- Foster a caring, inclusive, and supportive environment that encourages positive social interactions and healthy risk-taking through play.
- Guide students in resolving conflicts using respectful communication and practices consistent with Westtown's Quaker values.
- Build positive, professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues through timely and effective communication.
- Document student incidents and communicate important information to program leadership and team members.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues to create a positive, well-organized, and engaging after-school experience.
- Assist with setup, cleanup, and organization of program materials and spaces.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the MooseKids program.
Qualifications
- Some college is required a bachelor's degree is preferred
- Experience teaching, organizing, and/or supervising children
- Ability to interact and play with young children at their physical level
- A strong character with a team-oriented spirit, and the ability to connect meaningfully with students throughout our diverse community
- A deep commitment to enhancing an inclusive school community based on cultural competence, commitment to social justice, and respect for all voices
- Strong affinity for the mission of Westtown School and an educational philosophy consistent with the school’s Quaker values.
