Position Summary
Holy Child is seeking a dynamic, hardworking, individual to join our facilities department. The facilities department oversees maintenance and security for the beautiful 11-acre campus with over 106,000 square feet of buildings. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone with a few years of general maintenance experience under their belt who is looking to expand their knowledge of a variety of trades and be part of a supportive community.

Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Facilities Worker supports, maintains, trouble-shoots diagnostic problems, installs and makes general repairs on all School property and facilities.  Actively participates with student drop off and pick up (aka car line) as directed as well as general security to the campus.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Performs general repairs to desks, furniture, doors, and door hardware,
  • Replaces light bulbs & ballasts, ceiling tiles, carpet tiles, cove base, VCT and LVT.
  • Repairs and renovations to include basic electrical and plumbing.
  • Provides carpentry, drywall repairs, spackling, caulking repairs.
  • Assembles furniture, bookcases, shelving, set up & breakdown of events.
  • Provides preparation of surfaces and applies primer, paint, varnish, stains and or lacquer, etc. to the interior and exterior surfaces 
  • Accepts and signs for deliveries such as packages, crated materials and supplies, removes pallets and shipping materials and delivers items to the appropriate office/classroom.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment more than 50lbs is required, such as materials, supplies, rock salt, sandbags etc. and furniture such as desks and file cabinets within the same location or from one room to another.
  • Performs outside campus work assignments such as trash removal, snow removal, sign installations etc., as required.
  • Perform minor roof repairs, clean gutters and remove balls from roofs & gutters.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High School or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Trade school certificate and/or degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the general maintenance to include minor plumbing, electrical, mechanical and carpentry fields.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Requirements:

  • Ability to climb ladders, perform manual labor and lift objects more than 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to operate power and hand tools related to maintenance, hand shoveling of snow, and operate a snow thrower.
  • Must be able to work for prolonged periods of time on your feet both indoors or outdoors and unsupervised.
  • The ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • The ability to work on ladders, scaffolding or other elevated lifting platform equipment.
  • Ability to use a desktop computer, tablet and/or smartphone to operate the computerized maintenance work request program (Fresh Service), email, and internet searches for parts/manuals as required.
  • Basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, and painting skills.
  • Ability to replace HVAC filters, install and remove window air conditioners.

Certificate(s) or License:

  • Valid driver’s license in the state of Pennsylvania 
  • Trade related certificates preferred.

Schedule:

  • 8-hour shift, 40 hours/week (Monday - Friday 7:30am – 4:00 p.m.) 
  • Availability for overtime necessary and emergency “on call” availability a must
