General Maintenance Technician

Position: Maintenance Technician

The General Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing general routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance of school buildings and campus grounds to maintain a safe, well-maintained environment for students, residents, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance tasks such as painting, light carpentry, drywall repair, basic plumbing, electrical work, and grounds maintenance
• Participate in facility preventative maintenance programs
• Accountable for and abides by the standards set forth in The Baldwin School Employee Handbook
• Maintains confidentiality and rights of student, family, employee, and facility information in compliance with policies and applicable regulations
• Maintains a safe work environment and exhibits safe workplace best practices
• Interacts positively and cooperatively with students, families, visitors and other staff
• Performs all duties in compliance with all applicable Federal and State rules and regulations and facility policies and procedures
• Accepts assigned duties in a cooperative manner and willingly performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications Include:

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• The ability to follow verbal and written instructions; to perform basic math calculations and to work efficiently without direct supervision
• Familiar with or willing to learn Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
• Interested candidates must possess a general mechanical aptitude and a positive customer service approach
• An individual in this position will be required to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs
• Maintenance Team Members work inside and outside and are exposed to varying environmental conditions
• The ability to stand for extended periods of time and climb a ladder is necessary
• A valid PA driver's license and the ability to operate all School vehicles and equipment

Preferred Qualifications Include:

• A journeyman's license in plumbing, pipefitting, carpentry, or other trade is a plus
• 2-4 years of relevant maintenance, laborer, or related experience
• Experience with small project management and coordination
